POE2 Honor (new Lab aka Sanctum replika)

In my opinion Honor should not be in the game:

Why needs there to be a separate defense "mechanic"?? - 99% of the game follows the same rules but then there is ascension, where you "should" play a fast high dps ranged build.... WHY ??? if people want to play a slow "0 dps cannot die" melee build with stacked defenses that's not possible if you want to ascend (at least most of your defenses/your build are pointless). Sure they could nerf it to the point where it is doable, but then its completely pointless for said high dps ranged build.

(hated this mechanic already in poe1 but gladly there you can skip it easily)

You still can.

Slower, tankier builds can ascend via Ultimatum.
Honor is imo a bad mechanic nevertheless, as it nullifies part of the "normal" build progression (aka everything defensive thats not movement speed)

edit: i know they somehow calculate armor/evasion/es when loosing honour, but frankly you'd be better off just stacking more range/dps/speed

So don't do it.

Sanctum (or whatever it's called, Sekhema Trials?) is 100% optional in PoE2, just like in PoE1.
I think you need to take in account that it’s not going to be the sanctum type play we are accustomed to with combat animations, dodge roll, cc mechanics WE HAVE now… etc

I think it’s best to wait to play/experience yourself before writing it off as build limiting

Its not optional in PoE2, As Trial of the Sekhema is the only place to get jewels.

That means it’s optional—why? Because there’s trade in the game. Every mechanic has some luxury items tied to it, like how Sanctum has the most expensive ring, Original Sin. You won’t get it without doing Sanctum, but you can buy it. The developers mentioned that they wanted to separate drops like that, so it’s likely that catalysts dropping in PoE2 will only be available in Delirium, just like omens are exclusive to Ritual, etc. The way you’re describing it, most things aren’t optional because you have to engage with league mechanics to get certain items. But that’s exactly why it’s optional—because you can do what you enjoy, sell your items, and buy whatever you need.

It wouldn’t be optional if you had to do something because otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to get the item no matter what you did. But here, you can simply buy it instead.
If you really wanted to, the entire game could be considered optional—you could just stand in your hideout all day, buying low and selling high, and build a character without doing almost anything.
