Give a brief death recap so I can know why I died in a milisecond
Diablo 4 has this, why can't another ARPG? (I hope this is in Path of Exile 2)
With how much clutter fills the screen in mid/endgame mapping it doesn't really help if you're walking along and just suddenly get one tapped. If it's able to do all this calculations that fast it should be able to say "Hey, you died, here's a breakdown of what did damage to you: 80% X damage, 15% Y damage" etc. It would help because then you know "okay I need more resistances or damage reduction. Because if you "git gud", then you should be able to predict all incoming damage, kill enemies before you see them, require zero visual clarity to succeed, and generally not even look at your screen.
And yes, D4 does many basic ARPG design things that POE could learn, including not having a clunky game engine that has absurd hardware requirements for no benefit. One reason, among many others, that D2 (and D2R) are still very popular, is you can quickly see what is happening in combat, even in the highest density fast-paced combat situations where wrong choices will quickly kill you. |

People have been asking for this for a few years now, I myself would also love to know what kills me, it's the least enjoyable moment in the whole game for me when I die in a second and I don't know at all why, what I'm missing, etc. I don't intend to create immortal characters, but I would accept deaths much better in moments when I don't expect them, knowing that I was killed by dmg for which I simply have a gap in defense. it would be useful to have a list of dmg to develop for the curious what inflicted us dmg in the last 5 seconds before death, including whether there was any cc, etc.
Many types of builds and mobs make it hard to see and avoiding is not always so easy, especially for new players or less experienced it would be easier to reduce the various disadvantages of defense (not completely, of course) not everyone can afford to record their game 24 hours a day to see in slowmo what happened as often streamers do. A person would pay more attention to what's going on knowing what's going on at all, let it be an optional window after death, which can be turned on as one wishes. Probably the main reason why this isn't added is because players will cry when they see sick numbers like , “what did I get 20k dmg from 1 hit? it's impossible to survive that even having full def etc”. you know what i mean, the numbers will start a discussion about the fact that there is no balance and now you can only guess and say that you missed something in defensive and not that mobs are op |

" It would force the devs to look into balancing stuff instead of just blindly saying "try a different build" |

the game is in a state that the devs cant easily give us a death recap.
most players have just accepted it. [Removed by Support]

Chris Wilson (maybe couple of others) iirc has been adamant we will never get this.
That said recently Chris Wilson has been less and less the ‘face’ of GGG, and I don’t know why or if it’s permanent or if I am imagining it. It’s hypothetically possible that ‘policy’ could change but don’t expect it any time soon (like I mean years) |

Personally I dont think GGG wants a paper trail showing all the buggy ways people die with math not adding up.
