The Living Blade - the story of a dud unique
The Living Blade:
400pdps, fast (~1,9 aps) Added context: 400pdps fast 1h foil costs like 50c + you get to use a shield for incredible tankiness boost. using 2h makes sense ONLY if the damage outscales 1h+shield by a long shot. mana burn removal i consider useless. tinctures are 'piano' things, these like rhythm. you cannot build rhythm on a random proc rate. having 3 tinctures makes this mod even less reliable and while you CAN use tinctures on any build/class - there is little to no reason to actually NOT use Warden. the 'linger'+auto-removal combo is the strongest option out there, and you cannot skip 70%+ tincture effect passives, esp when you use 2 (or 3), when these nodes get trippled in effective power so Warden it is ill ignore alternative power from flasks, to make things easier this leaves us with simple equation: is this endgame weapon (you find it from mappers, this is FAR into the endgame due to costs) actually even worth picking up, does it - in best scenario - make ANY sense to use over rare 2h sword - in an otherwise identical build? it boils down to: is that 3rd tincture (the least powerful out of 3 ofc) worth using 400pdps 2h sword? it is simple math, there is no trick to it, no special features first two tinctures are elemental(pen) + crit(aspd) with 35% effect/burn rate. these are stapples, enormous power but what about the third? the third that makes or breaks the unique? - unless ignite with perfect agony (bad tree position, ascendancy, weapon etc) ailment tinctures do not fit - stun hardly works on non elemental - bleed/poison - same (unless you go full meme with 'cold skills poison' gloves or whatever) - rage on hit - this one is cool, might even mix with Vengeful Cry/Berserk, is it worth 50% more damage given you can get rage from Eldrith gloves or this new unique? - Blind - strong, no denying, esp on AR/EV hybrid build, when it boosts effective evade change trough the roof and makes accuracy non-issue. but again - 50% damage? - unique flasks? only two really make some sense (rage + cull or stun + splash). there is an option for Perfect Agony (again..) poison with unique (Grasping Nightshade for easy wither) + poison tincutre + crit tincture but after trying numbers it also didnt really made much sense - best poison skills are 1h only (and you want Bino's or pathfinder for prolif if on a Mamba) so back to the post title: what is the purpose of this endgame weapon when the math alone says it is TERRIBLE choice, the playstyle is the same with 2 and 3 tinctures (piano the f.. out of it) and the itemization/build is IDENTICAL to any other warden 2h sword with 2 tinctures i complain about bloat - people defend it saying 'oh there are no bad uniques, you just have to think harder or whatever'. cmon, defend this Last edited by sidtherat#1310 on Nov 25, 2024, 6:30:57 AM Last bumped on Nov 25, 2024, 6:25:01 AM
