Monk who uses the crossbow possible?

All of the gameplay I've seen are pretty much locked using the class specific weapons they showcase. Are you locked to that weapon type with each class or can you make a good build around a different weapon like let's say a monk who uses a crossbow?
If I'd ever got a chance to make a game, it would definitively not cater to the players that want the game to change instead of themselves improving in it. Last bumped on Nov 28, 2024, 3:50:36 PM

This is one of my only fears about the game, that classes are much more tied to their weapons than in PoE1.

All the presentations are made in such a way that the casual players, they want to attract, do not get too overwhelmed (the reason why they avoided POE 1 in the first place).
Basically, all they have shown is just a recommendation to try and give classes a traditional defined role. At its core, POE 2 is still POE. You can mix and match whatever you like; you could go Two Handed dual wielding slam Witch if you find a way to make it work. If you have the attributes for it, you can equip anything in the game on any class. |

There is at least 1 gameplay video i have seen where a monk drops tempest bell and then switches to a crossbow and rapid fire shoots it
