Why does POE2 change the UI depending on the input method?
I'm playing on the PC version (via epic games store), and if I specify a controller as the input method, I can't set the Town Portal Skill as an action button because of the UI.
This is very inconvenient in terms of gameplay. Will this specification ever be improved or will it stay the same? Last bumped on Dec 27, 2024, 4:20:27 PM

works the same in POE1 unfortunately I think the Dev's are mistakenly of the opinion that the gamepad UI is somehow necessary for PC gamepads.
I've played tons of games that just treated the controller like any other set of keybinds Would love to see GGG implement controllers the same way literally all PC games do instead of forcing a bad UI on us. I don't know why GGG thinks they need to reinvent the wheel this way. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. |

I agree. I absolutely hate the controller UI. It makes no sense to switch it from the standard UI. I always fight to try and see my flasks. I don't understand why they can't keep flasks against the health pool like with the key card and mouse UI. |

Been banging my head against the wall trying to find the UI setting to show flasks when using a controller. Thought for sure that would be an option and I was just overlooking it. Turns out I'm not alone.

they need to add way more customization... my buff (power charge) is shown at the bottom now instead of top left, feels horrible to get used to

It isn't just me then. Why can't I see my flasks when I play with controller?

Thie completely different UI schemas is probably why we have to leave the game to switch between controller and keyboard & mouse.
Even if it’s too much of a lift to add controller inputs to the keyboard and mouse logic, there should be a better effort to A) synchronize UX between the two, and B) support mouse drag and drop in the controller mode. It’s infuriating being unable to loot with a mouse or manage inventory and skills with a mouse. Other games don’t struggle with this, it’s a logical QOL. Please let us see flasks and charms on the controller UI!

I really would like a different Controller UI ( more like when playing with WASD) and what i 100% need is that i can use the Mouse 100% normal while playing with Controller, not fun like now. (This is one thing D4 does GREAT)

100% agree. Controller feels great to use in this game. But the UI just feels cheap. There is zero reason why the UI needs to look different. You can easily see all input and reference info in the normal UI regardless of input or if you’re at a monitor or tv.
It would be amazing if they could keep the scroll wheel selection and other functionality and just simply give us the normal UI even on Controller. GGG - Please! At least give us the option to do this if we want. D4 did it without any issue. |
