POE2 Bug with "The Devouring Diadem wicker Tiara" and witch

"The Devouring Diadem wicker Tiara" has an ability
"every 3 seconds, consume a nearby corpse to recover 20% of life" which does not occur next to corpses if the witch has the infernalist ascendancy and while in demon form (at least the first node acquired). I'm not sure if this is because all equipment does not work while shapeshifted or an error. From the shapeshift toolbar, it states the weapon slots are disabled but didn't say if Armour/amulets/etc are also disabled while shapeshifted. Thank you!
