Locked out of completing The Slithering Dead (cannot access Venom Crypts area after A3 boss)

I left "The Slithering Dead" sidequest incomplete and beat the Act 3 boss. Tried to go back to A3 to finish it and I simply can't access the Venom Crypts area anymore. Not sure at which point it became inaccessible but likely after the world map shift upon unlocking Utzaal, and definitely after after defeating the Act 3 boss. The time portal in town becomes a quest objective to proceed to Cruel difficulty, and the prior zones in the world map just don't exist anymore. I tried using my friends who were at the start of Act 3 to portal in, but as soon as I went to town, the world map reverted to the "end of normal difficulty" state.

There's also some really awkward town portal shenanigans that happen if I try to stay around in Act 3 and help friends at an earlier quest state, where I can use their TP to go back to town but then I don't see a waypoint in town anymore--I'm forced to go through the gate to Cruel Riverways or wait to teleport to them once they go back to another zone.

Same issue. I even beat the quest already and purposefully did not turn it in yet because I wasn't sure which reward to take. Frustrating that your choice is permanent and that we're punished for not making it before beating the game

The crux of the problem for me is, I finished act 3 cruel b4 even cheking the crypts cus I wanted to rush to the endgame part. The quest is shown as done/completed in my questlog but I still see the uncompleted icon on the map. It´s definitly a script bug making all quests appear as completed just because u beat boss XY. I hope they soon fix it and make people like me who didnt loot the questitem eligable to get it again.
