Quest (Lack of) Rewards

Just hit the (at least) second Lvl 1 uncut support gem as a quest reward. The things are a dime a dozen, I already have a bunch of extras just sitting in stash. They drop more than any decent crafting currency. So why, oh why, would I want one as a quest reward? Quest rewards should be something you're actually happy to receive.
