Really want to understand this game
Hello,
so as the title says. I really want to understand this game but right now after just like ~15hours of PoE which were like a disaster for me,I'm not sure if PoE2 is much better. I've heard like a few opinions and seen a few videos that mention it's not as complex as PoE1 but to me it still seems to be very overwhelming. I really like the Blizzard title as this seems to be pretty casual friendly (in my opinion) and you just like grind out every season so it's always the "Same" in some way. Is PoE2 the same? Also I've heard that it's a must to spend money to be in the endgame as I need to buy stash space or so? Is there even any way to do this without spending anything at all? Also during PoE1 it was looking like I was always required to download some extra Tools. Like Loot Filters,Path of Building or so and maybe more that I don't even know of. So right now, event though it's just 30$, I'm very afraid to buy a game which won't make any fun to me as I still have to use a lot of "external" stuff. I can remember that I skilled my PoE1 character wrong so I lost my interest in this game. Is this still a problem with PoE2? I already saw a few streamers mention that this game is some sort of "Dark Souls" or "Elden Ring" ARPG. Which, until now, was never really something that I had fun with. Is it really THAT hard? I can't really tell from some streamers that I've seen if this is the case or not. Is there any simple "holding hand" or so for this game or is it really that time consuming as some say? I would really like to hear some of your thoughts, especially if you're new to the game or someone who plays since PoE1. Last bumped on Dec 10, 2024, 9:19:57 AM

" Based on your post I think you would find the game currently too hard too enjoy. Your build matters still but now you really need to use the roll to avoid big attacks or get quickly killed. |

Will that change in the future or will it always be "too hard"? Any expectations on that?

Can't tell you if you will enjoy the game or not. But if you do buy the early access for 30, it does come with 300 points to use in the store, which you can use to purchase stash tabs.
From a POE1 perspective, while you -CAN- play end game without buying stash tabs, you shouldnt. You pretty much need a currency and map tab, and if playing trade league, at least 1 premium tab to list stuff for sale “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.”

Most of the stash tabs including currency, essence, gem, unique and normal tabs only needs to be purchased once and they would be available to your character in both POE1 and POE2.
POE1 real challenge starts when you are forced to corrupt your red maps on your first playthrough, and besides that, you play a build that requires a unique body armour but couldn't afford a 6-linked one yet. On the other hand, POE2 white trash mobs in Act 1 can three-shot to death, so we have to constantly kite them. POE1 is bloated with content and that's how you sink your time in the game. I'm expecting the gameplay of POE2 to become faster once they have to add new content to keep the game fresh every 3 or 4 months. I don't know what made you think POE1 is a disaster after 15 hours. If you spent couple of hours on Path of Building to find the gaps in a build, cap your resists, layer your defenses, trade for gear, you shouldn't have trouble getting any decent build to red maps. If you feel like your character is hitting wall in progression, valuable loot aren't dropping, just know that picking up all rare items from the floor and vendoring them can already get you hundreds of alteration orbs, and these can be traded to Faustus (the auction house NPC) for chaos orbs. Not enough scrolls? Vendor your transmutation orbs for more scrolls. Once you have a decent character up and running, you can harvest yellow juice and sell them for divine orbs. |
