Melee sucks

Over 3000 hours in POE and I mostly only play melee. The melee attacks in POE2 are too slow. You stand in Melee range getting slapped waiting for a wind up. You added this dodge ability but if you use it, you cut 80% of your attacks off and go back to waiting for an opportunity.

There needs to be built in toughness for melee skills or something. I cant trade with bosses who take no dmg while I'm chugging 1 flask. currently at the frost wolf boss in act one and cant beat it with a 1 exalt 2 handed mace I bought.

The campaign needs its difficulty turned down a bit or melee needs a ton of help. I started a caster and clearing mobs off screen with no risk shines a bad light on the state of melee skill.

Warrior here 0 issues with melee

If you built a bad character than it will have a bad time. Can Dm me your setup and we can troubleshoot

I thought the same thing, so I went over and grabbed 2 attack speed clusters and got a weapon with 17% attack speed. No issue now
Im not high enough level for any passive clusters to be near me yet. As I said a new caster of lower level already does better. Yes, you might manage and be better than me, that's great and all but doesnt change that melee is so much worse than anything ranged. At least at my low level.
Melee always was and still is simply harder to play than ranged or casters. Every boss encounter in act1 as a monk looked like 2-hits, dodge, 2-hits, dodge then go ham once stagger bar is full. It's much better now with decent gems but low level melee will still be miserable most of the time. You need to either tweak your build/equipment, get much better at dodging and general gameplay or just roll an easier archetype.
