Act 3 Trial of Chaos bug

My friend and I went into the trial of chaos and when we got to the fourth stage where the boss is, he died and I completed it alone. I got the rewards and completed the quest no problem. Problem is he got locked out because it was my orb that we used to open the trial and he cannot place his orb to start it anymore. We tried resetting the instance but it did not work seems like he got hard locked out of it.

Please provide help on this
