Act 3 - Ziggurat Encampent Access Issues between Regular and Cruel Modes

I completed Acts 1 to 3 on regular difficulty and began playing Cruel Act 1. When I joined a friend who was still in Act 3 (regular), I teleported to his location in the black chamber. I then had to sell items so told him to keep going and I portaled back to town. It took me to the usual spot where I needed to access the present data encampment using the waygate. I proceeded through the waygate and it took me back to Act 1 in Cruel on the Riverbank. I cannot use the portal to get out and teleporting to my friends location was disabled. I had to get through the intro area, beat the boss, access Clearfell Encampment, and then I could portal out or teleport directly to him. The only was I can access present day Ziggurat Encampment is if I am teamed up with him or someone else. I then can teleport to them direct (not using a waypoint).

When solo I try to use the way point to get present day Ziggurat Encampment, I only have access to the past. I cannot switch the map to get to the present day. I take the waygate again from the past and it puts me back in Riverbank (cruel mode). This time though, if I press the U key to bring up the map, Act 3 standard is back to displaying the present day map where I can access the Temple of Chaos and other locations. However, I am not able to port of the area. I have to beat it again, like I described above, and arrive at Clearfell Encampment. Once there I am able to use the waypoint.

To solve this, at the Ziggurat Encampment (present) quit the game. When you log back in you will be in Ziggurat Encampment (past) with the waypoint. From the waypoint you can get back to your hideout or portal to your preferred location.
