POE 2 Long loading sreen/Lag in new area
Hello guys!
The loading screen (initial loading screen before character selection aswell) and the loading of a new area takes around 30 seconds each to load (sometimes even longer), or when I open the map with "U" or the atlas. It lags like crazy, certain textures aren't loaded, animations don't play and enemies are rubberbanding. Before the last patch, the problem wasnt as big, and even if it took a bit longer to load, it wasnt as bad as it is now. I already experienced this during the campaign, but on the maps, it has become unplayable. My PC is more than sufficient to run POE2. I even set all the settings to very low to test it. I tried the game on Epic Games, Steam and the standalone client, which im currently using. My drivers are updated as well and the game was started in administrator mode. 3rd party programs like Exit Lag didnt help me at all. I reseted my router aswell, just in case this was the issue. Ive also seen plenty of posts on Reddit from people experiencing similar issues, and some of them even have crazy good PCs. Are there any known solutions for this issue? thanks! Edit: If there is already a solution for this problem in this forum and i missed it, pls link it to me! Last edited by Falcos#3994 on Dec 13, 2024, 1:59:00 PM Last bumped on Jan 26, 2025, 2:22:06 PM

Since this post went under without a reply, i push it once. Maybe someone has a solution.
I know alot of people have other issues and waiting for a response on their threads aswell . |

I have this issue too. Ones the first pack shows up, I have to run away or I lag and die.

Exactly my experience, and it is horrible!
What i tried in the meantime: 1) avtivated UPnP without any positive effect. 2) Using WinMTR, i tested the connection to the server, without any significant packet loss (i actually lost 0% packages) or high latency. 3) updated windows The funny part is that my ingame ping is always around 16-17 ms, even when the game lags like crazy while loading into a new area. Im pretty sure whatever we do wont fix the problem. GGG has to investigate and solve it. Edit: I tested plenty of other games, including POE1, and all of them have no issues. I havent been able to solve the issue so far, but during my search for a solution, I came across someone who had a shader problem.
I opened the performance metrics ingame and loaded into a new area. The green shader bar was completely maxed out. The same thing happened when I encountered the first pack of monsters. After loading for a while, the green shader bar gradually went down. However, it immediately spikes again whenever I find a new pack of mobs but then quickly goes back down. Now Im wondering if this could be the problem. What changed with patch 0.1.0d? Maybe someone with knowledge in this area can answer the question. Interestingly, POE2 works on my laptop, which isn’t made for gaming and only has an integrated graphics chip.
While I only get around 30 FPS on very low settings(you can basicly see nothing but blurry images), the game doesn’t take forever to load and doesn’t have those massive lag spikes when I encounter the first mob pack. Now I’m REALLY wondering what the problem could be. Just a few days ago, before the patch, it was running very well on my PC too. And my PC is significantly better than the laptop. Over the last couple of hours, I tested a few maps where I loaded in and waited for a while. Even then, I experienced huge lag spikes when I encountered the first pack of mobs.
After that, it was somewhat okay and playable, but only on tier 1 white maps. The moment more mobs spawn at once, I can’t move an inch and die without even seeing the death hit. This especially happens when I start a league mechanic, for example, Breach. Not being able to play for an entire week is really frustrating, and I doubt GGG will respond at all. I already sent them a detailed message with a link to this post. I’m now out of ideas and really need some help or advice! |

This is an issue for me as well. 3070 TI GPU, no issues like this with other games. I know it's not a PC issue since the problem goes away when I load back into a zone that I've already been to.
GGG needs to patch this ASAP. It's bad for EA it will push all F2P players away on launch. Push the Patch GGG |

Thought it might just be me (I'm late to EA.)
Really enjoying it but having this issue too and it's getting worse (now in Act 3 it's really really noticeable.) |
