Infernalist Demon Form

I am wondering...how come the demon form to be so weak, it has a self life drain and prohibits you from having anything other than spells, and disables your weapon, IDK why I would do such a thing when I can achieve the same power just by equipping a weapon like this one:

You essentially get way better results from the weapon than what the ascendancy can provide, without all the limitations, isn't this just awkward?

I really think they should rethink the way that the ascendancy works, or it just doesn't make sense to use it at all.

Am I wrong? Can someone please explain what am I missing? I really was trying to build around it, but it seems a waste of time...

you get to use both. if you use this in demon form you have +11 spell levels.
Not really, it would be amazing if it was like that, once you transform, you lose all bonuses from your weapon:

Infernalist in general needs a lot of help. It's why every high level one you see is minions.

Demon Form is only good for leveling as it stands and you can't respect so don't do it.
Demon Form also directly eats your life which is important for other things.

Pyromatic Pact lets you have unlimited casting but you no longer have mana so no MoM though it's not hard to offset with ES recovery speed.

The other two nodes however are just bad. Ignite is just a primer. It doesn't actually deal any notable damage. This makes Bringer of Flame rather pointless since plenty of skills and the Dog can prime Ignite. The other option Seething Body wants you to sit at high flame which negates the point of having endless casting that hurts you.

Grinning Immolation can only be countered with MoM otherwise you will never have ES.

I think they assumed Demon Form + Grinning Immolation + Battery + MoM would be comparable. It's obviously not and the other path is just bad since Ignite does no damage.

yeah my bad. i dont know why i assumed how it works. i ended up respecing into perma demon form and its pretty amazing for the mobility but you do lose a lot not even damage but you lose 2 frigging stat sticks. its a fine line and i think its not quite worth it. im only up to maps 2 as well. it is extremely nice to do trials and clear maps with because of the mobility.

i think demon form should be allowed to use stat sticks, at least in one hand. it needs something. i havent gotten to try the other nodes. i feel infernal flame should probably be a set amount of casts, so you can skip mana regen nodes and you have a nice tradeoff where its good for high mana spells but bad for cheap ones (sth like that). i guess with enough res/effective health you could skip mana entirely anyway.

grinning immolation i dont understand at all. i have spent a good amount of time looking at the tree and that node should probably be at least 50%. there is the node that gives you 40% ele damage on a crit but i dont know why i would take the tradeoff node. i guess if you only use it on your big nuke, like ice comet it works.

the gain 20% damage on high flame node looks interesting to me. i assume gain works as "more damage" and there are some "gain damage nodes" on skill tree so it might be worth even if its just active some time of the cycle. Maybe not.
