Skill Preview Uses a Different Audio Source Than The Game
Reference # 3,633,583,689
I route my audio through virtual audio channels using a Stream Deck + and Elgato Wave Link software. This allows me to control individual app volumes on the fly without having to open the Audio Mixer on my PC. I typically have my games, including PoE 2, at around 50% volume. This allows me to hear any voice chat or other programs over the game's audio. When watching the previews in character selection or a preview for a skill, I noticed the audio was abnormally loud compared to the rest of the game. After investigating, I found the preview clip audio plays through the System Default audio channel, regardless of what audio channel the game is set to. Steps to reproduce: 1) Set up virtual audio channels using a software like Elgato Wave Link 2) Launch PoE 2 3) Set PoE 2's audio output to a desired channel. This can be done in PoE 2's Audio settings or using the Windows Volume Mixer. I set mine to a channel named "Game". 4) Set the audio channel used for PoE 2 to 50%. Keep all other audio channels, including the system default at 100% 5) While in game, open a preview window for a skill. The audio for the preview does not play through the same channel as the game. Expectation: The preview clip's audio uses the same audio channel the game is set to. What actually happened: The preview clip's audio is routed through the system default audio channel. Suggested fix: The preview clips should use the same audio output as the game. Last bumped on Dec 24, 2024, 11:01:25 PM

same issue with a twist:
I'm using a playstation 4 controller on pc for playing the game. Sound on Speakers, default is sound on controller. Since I switched to controller, no sound for the skill preview for me. I guess it's the same problem here, skill preview sound doesn't care about sound output setting in options |
