infernal hound + searing flame

Not sure if this intended or not, but when using the level 3 support searing flame on the infernal hound, the gem details tab is not showing an increase to the magnitude of ignite inflicted by being close to the hound. If this is an intended behavior of searing flame, the wording on the gem is not clear it only applies to hits.

I tried to test this ingame if it works despite the gui not showing it.
The description of the hound says base fire damage which made me think that searing flame should work as the descritpion says the 20% hp is building the base ignuite damge only and not the final one.

Anyway, to me it seems that then found kills much faster enemies he is not attacking (so only using his ignite) when searing flame is equipped. But i am not 100% confident.

I would also like to see an official clarfication on this.
