Why isn't there a built in Auction House?

Hey All,

my first time playing POE and i'm enjoying POE 2 but i recently noticed you can trade in the game and there is a dedicated trade page to find the item and person and you need to PM them in order to get the item.

But wouldn't it be better to just create an auction house? the trade page already has the Database needed for an the auction house to function within the backend they would just need to integrate it with a front end interface for it within the game? and honestly they could of just implemented it with the Currency Exchange or instead of the Currency Exchange it could be an AH.

i think a trade vendor would do better.

For example:
You place him in your hideout, you can buy stashtabs for him,
put the item in it, select a price, and then the item is listed on the trade site. Trading by Vendor will take double the gold cost of the item to sell or use a daily fee for the merchant himself.

When a player wants to buy the item, you whisper the merchant using the trade website and he will send you a direct invite to the hideout where you can see the items from the seller and a highlight for the item you requested.


So players will still visit the different hideouts, and you dont have to stay online forever or react while mapping. An additional Button on the side of the screen if you like the hideout would be a nice addition.

That, or something similar to that, would be my favourite solution and would fix the "no answer ghosting" in trades. And it would still feel more active than using an auction house.

Agree even an indie game like Last Epoch has one, it's a pain in the butt trying to trade in poe2, it's full of afk traders.

Currency exchange is a compromise. No full AH in poe. From what I remember, never gonna happen, but we'll see.

i think the currency exchange is good enough.

I dont want my items to be sniped when im a sleep because market prices changed alot when i went to bed. I 100% want to be able to put an item in my stash that I DONT KNOW THE VALUE, and get alot of whispers, indicating that i should then spend time to look up the market prices for that and list it at a higher price.

I dont want to be PUNISHED, because im not sure what a random combination of mods in a rare item is worth. I dont EVER want people to be able to buy my item automatically because i listed it at a bad price.

Unlike the currency exchange, where you can easily see what stuff is sold for/listed for since its not as complex as a 6 modifier rare item with corruptions and socketed runes etc.

I had the same thought with the ingame auction house, when I started playing PoE 2 but soon I realized that the current trade system is just better for this game, because item prices vary too much. And as some people said already, you have more control at the moment, than you would have with an auction house.

Auction house shouldnt be a must do. Both system should be in game so everyone can choose what he prefere. I think selling it cheaper is better than having to much effort.
