Decaying Hex + Chaotic Freeze

Basically, once you support a Curse with Decaying Hex it inflicts Decay, a non-Ailment Chaos damage over time Debuff.

Chaotic Freeze is supposed to support Spells that deal non-Ailment Chaos damage over time, yet it cannot support a skill supported with Decay.


Not gonna lie, im unsure if i should put this in bug reports or here because it might as well actually be the intended behaviour of the skill. However, it would be cool if we could "attach" gem tags to enable different support gems through other supports, similar to how it is in poe1 - for example with Arcane Surge Support "attaching" the Duration tag to the gem its linked to, and thus allowing the skill to be supported by gems like Less Duration or Swift Affliction, despite lacking the Duration tag itself.

Just ran into the same problem, there are other supports that do seem to affect the other support gems, makes me think this was an oversight.

Was very disappointed to find this out myself as it would work great with my build; so I agree wholeheartedly that this should be an interaction that works.

I did sort of salvage it for my monk, basically you can use contagion with chaotic freeze to spread decaying hex applied by the curse (presumably despair).

I then use hexbloom to spread the despair curse, then both of them are spreading separately but it's more or less the effect I was after.

Agree, trying to make chayula monk work and I was baffled when I noticed they can't be put together

it does count as a damage over time debuff for the sake of using dark effigy with a curse and decaying hex. Seems like it is clearly a bug

Quarterstaff's Hand of Chayula can slot/apply Marks & Curses, yet the support gems for those skills aren't slottable in HoC itself. . . makes me wonder why

I really hope they fix this interaction. There are so few ways to apply Chaotic Freeze right now :<
