ENDGAME rolled back lol - game thinks i didn't finish cruel difficulty

background: currently level 89, I have completed the game on cruel and have mapped to 15.

was playing chaos temple with a friend. not sure if this is related, but after the second or third level, we walked onto the elevator platform. my friend went up without me, so he stood on the platform while i pulled the switch. the platform went down (with him still on it) and immediately back up again. we laughed because i got stuck on the bottom floor, with no switch to pull, i guess because the game thought i was on the platform.

i decided to portal out. This is where it gets weird. i found myself teleported to Ziggurat encampment (past). i also lost the 'endgame' tab. However, i can still access my atlas through the menus.

not sure how i fix this...

update: i tried to rekill the final boss, hoping it would fix this. Nothing - i'm still stuck without the endgame tab and the atlas. :D

update2: i walked from sandswept marsh to the (present) ziggurat encampment. The ziggurat encampment gateway is not open from the past-->present. however, it's open from the present--> past (ie once i go back in time, i can't come back).
