Trial of Sekhemas Cruel difficulty bug

Like many before me the quest is bugged and I am unable to progress it, however unlike with other people I cannot get my ascendancy, even after using the coin that specifically says I can gain another ascenion with it ( Yes, I know about the ones that cannot ascend you )

I just spent a good hour or two getting through both trials and their final bosses, just to end up without my ascendancy points.

This is genuinely frustrating.
