Item tiers ?

I just got into endgame. I saw that items now have tiers. Anyone can help to explain?
I'm seeing tier 2 yellow now. What's the highest tier they have now? Which is the best tiers and why ? Like I'm assuming tier 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 with highest being best ? Or is it 1 is best? Last bumped on Dec 19, 2024, 7:01:42 AM

In PoE 2 the higher the number of tier, the better it is. I am not sure what the maximum number is. I assume that it is dependent on the affix. Tier 1 is the worst.
Short answer: The higher the item tier, the better affixes it will roll. Long answer: In PoE each item can have up to 3 prefixes and 3 suffixes. These are taken form all affixes available for that item type. Each of these affixes has multiple tiers where 1 is the lowest. This results in a huge pool of possible stats and reduces the chance to get good rolls, because you not only need to roll the desired affixes but also high tier ones. Item tiers remove the lower tiers of affixes from that pool. So when you roll a desired affix it will be of higher minimum tier and higher average tier. The higher the item tier, the more affix tiers get removed. I hope I was able to explain this understandably. English is not my first language. Ever since they nerfed my sorc build... and then nerfed it some more, I am stuck in end game but can't even do tier one maps, trials for post 4 ascendancy points etc so I have just been trying to trade for gear to get any kind of edge and I have been confused about item tier so this helped. |

That is actually a neat system.
They do work on these things. Edit: I acknowledge this post adds nothing to the discussion, but I can't delete it.
