POE1 Ruthless - POE 2 comparison

Just a tiny cmparison of what POE1 ruthless has and POE2 also has or not (in accordance with official poewiki):

1) Ruthless mode is an extreme scarcity mode - YES
2) Support and percent-reservation gems (such as auras) cannot be bought - YES
3) Travel skills disabled (only Quickstep exists) - mostly NO. However there is no flame dash, dash or frostblink, we still have leap slam, blink, warp and default roll vs quickstep in Ruthless
4) No crafting bench - YES
5) No divination cards - YES
6) No pantheons - YES
7) No map device chaos options - YES
8) No master missions - YES
9) No veiled mods or veiled orbs - YES
10) No way to enkindle flasks - YES
11) No vaal side areas - YES
12) No incubators - YES
13) Utility Flasks cannot gain charges while active - NO. Charms can gain sharges while active
14) Utility Flasks have lower duration - YES. Charms duration is halfed in comparison to poe1 utility flasks
15) Gem and player experience gain is much slower - NO
16) Maps are much harder to acquire and sustain - YES
17) Bosses in the campaign heal when you die - YES
18) Using a Chaos orb on influenced gear always removes influence - N/A. There is no influenced gear in POE2
19) Ruthless specific Ascendancies - N/A. We have new ascendancies. However they feel weaker than in POE1
20) Ruthless specific Atlas tree - Somewhat YES. Its fully new atlas tree, but the whole cocept is the same as in ruthless: special content is much rarer and no guaranteed content to spawn.
21) Many vendor recipes removed or changed in Ruthless mode - YES. No vendor recipes anymore.

So yes, POE 2 is not POE1 Ruthless. It's another game /sarcasm/

I've only really played Ruthless in POE1 and all I can say is the experience is completely different for the simple reason POE2 actually plays like a completely different game. Like, the actual gameplay is nothing alike. From the responsiveness, skills, pacing, etc. everything is totally different.

Your argument is on the systems. But you fail to put together how it all ties together as an experience. Might as well compare Torchlight to POE2 at this point I guess.

WASD — NO
Much more skill interactions — NO
Reworked gem system — NO
More interesting campaign — NO
More diverse monsters — NO
More tactical gameplay without mobility skills — NO

etc, the list goes on and on. So yes, it is exactly the same game — it has monsters, maps and items and many other things in common.

Or might as well compare Torchlite to POE 1, make a list of shared mechanics and say it is exactly the same game.

The campaign is the same interest it was POE1 at start. And after several walkthroughs becomes boring as it is in POE1. The dev team ddd a great job with the campaign, but just imagine dong it again and again league after league.

More tactiacal gameplay? Really? Whats the tactical gameplay of obliterating Arbiter for 5 seconds? Or maybe its just tactical of zooming through the map clering 1.5 screens away from you but with just less movement speed?

So tell me what's the difference between POE1 ruthless and POE2 endgame gameplay. The game forces you to make fast mappers aka zoom zoom builds cause of time-limited mechanics(breach and delirium). Moreover the game makes possible to do such builds. At the current state the endgame feels ezactly like in POE1 but with scarcer loot. We have new skills, new classes, new interactions between skills, but whats the point when you are clearing the whole map with 1 button build (and the gamedesign forces you to do so)
Yes, current state of the end game leaves much to be desired, that's true. It looks like a waste that all these skill interactions are useless in the end game. I could do so much more with my character, but what's the point if everything is dying so fast including bosses, which were so much cooler in the first 3 acts. But it will be hopefully changed. They only worked on campaign all these years after all, started to work on late game few months ago and were hurry to make at least something.

The game literally went live on early access days ago. There's a TON of things missing. Skill gems in particular. If you are hellbent in judging the game with such impossible standards right out of the gate, fine. But the comparison to Ruthless is just bizarre.

The game has tons of room to improve and evolve. Hopefully, it won't end up being a 1 button spam in the endgame. I don't think GGG would be ok with it.

I think so too. Jonathan said that he can't go back to playing PoE 1 anymore, so why would he ruin his fun in PoE 2 :)
