totems and nearby ally tags.
so i was wondering if it was a bug or not so lemme know. when you use a mace with neaby allies have extra dmg ect. they do not get the dmg as they dont count as nearby alies. but it gets the aura from it like the purity of fire so on so fourth. how comes it counts as an allie for the aura and not for the dmg itself on the prefix or the suffix

The way it worked in PoE1 was that totems do not have any offensive stats (and therefore cannot have such modified)--they use yours. This is why when you take "attack speed" (or cast speed for spell totems), it benefits your totems. In PoE2, the wrinkle is they wield their own weapon but I believe the rest still applies.

At least according to the wording of Ally, this should be a bug.
The description clearly states: Minions, and any other entity that fights alongside you and has it's own stats. Totem is an entity, and since it is using it's own weapon and has stats such as max life, attack speed, etc., I don't see how it should not count as an ally |

In game definition of totems:
"Totems are allied constructs..." Scrolling over the word "allied" on the totem definition gives you the "Ally" definition. Last edited by tbarabasz#0671 on Jan 10, 2025, 11:10:42 PM

I did some more testing on this and effects such as "Attack damage with nearby Ally" seem to work, i.e. you get increased attack damage while near a totem.
What does however not seem to work on totems is effects on allies in your presence such as the added accuracy from "Presence Present" or increased attack speed from "Mass Hysteria" First test: I tested the increased accuracy by doing the following: - Assign 2x 3% attack speed nodes at the bottom of the tree for 6% increased attack speed - Summon totem and check totem attacks per second - Respec to choose "mass Hysteria" (make sure you have all minor attack speed nodes on the path assigned for the whole test) - Summon totem and check attacks per second Totems should get 6% attack speed from "Mass Hysteria" while not in your presence and an additional 6% when in your presence. This means that the attacks per second should be higher than with 6% attack speed assigned instead of "Mass Hysteria". In reality only the baseline 6% are applied regardless of player presence. Second test: - Assign "Mass Hysteria" - Summon totem - Check attacks per second - Move out of presence radius, confirmed by hit damage decreasing thanks to "Presence Present" - Check attacks per second on totem (they don't change) These tests confirm, that there is an inconsictency in the how totems are counted as allies (or the Notables don't have an effect on allies regardless of ally type. As you can see from me doing these tests, I unfortunately don't have friends to test this possibility). 1) Effects on yourself based on allies in your presence seem to be applied correctly with totems counting as allies. 2) Notables with effects on allies in your presence do not seem to apply to totems. I hope this helps finding the root cause for the bug and fixing it soon. |
