Skill Gems and Support Gems not dropping

I'm a level 46 Infernalist Witch well on my way through Act 3, post Portal. I have not gotten a single Support Gem or Skill gem since Act 1. I killed every single enemy and boss on every map. I completed every side quest along the way. My highest level skill was a level 5 Essence Drain when I was around character level 43. I had to trade with guild mates to get skill gems to level up my skills and finally unlock new skills.

This is honestly kind of ridiculous I've never played any video game that lets you progress through most of the story and get to level 46 without getting to unlock new skills along the way. The progression system is incredibly broken right now. This was a completely different experience from when I played through on my sorc, by the time I got to the end of Act 2 on sorc I had pretty much all of my tier 1-3 skills unlocked and support gems socketed in.

Is my character bugged? Is the drop rate really that trash in this game that you can play 40+ hours on a character without unlocking a new skill? Please address this it's made this playthrough pretty unbearable to never see any really progression on your build and character. I have gotten Chaos Orbs and Exalted Orbs more frequent than skill gems and support gems on this playthrough which is insane since I haven't even reached end game yet.

Same issue with my sorceress. Multiple other characters are fine doing like normal. My sorceress was also the first character I made engineering if it had something to do with being made pre patch
