Personal observations, but not feedback about PoE2. +Worries about PoE1

After trying the campaign with various classes, archetypes and farming T15+ maps with one of them I feel I have seen the main direction GGG wants for PoE2. In a lot of core areas I don't agree with the choises they have made which is fine. Having played ruthless on and off I can safely say PoE2 is not a game I would enjoy playing as a main game for years to come.In many ways it has the same feel as ruthless while ofc having some differences too.

I might hop on a league every now and then but it feels too sloggish for me to want that every day. Again. This is fine. A game cannot satisfy everyone. Now my biggest issue is that PoE2 and PoE1 are economically too tied together. PoE1 players have been paying for the development of PoE2 for years now. I still love PoE1 and I hope they can get their crews properly split up soon so we can stop worrying that even though PoE2 might not be for us at least PoE gets the attention and love it deserves. We can't take another year with only 2 leagues where one of them was a disaster(necro).

Again this is not feedback to change the direction of PoE2. Some people looove that direction and I am happy for them that they get their game. It is more an obvservation with a worried conclusion that PoE might get impacted in a way it doesn't deserve.

The one thing I would say is that I think the fairly stark differences between POE1 and POE2 are actually a reason to be *more* optimistic about the future of POE1. If the two games were very similar, there would be a lot less long-term incentive to have them both running at the same time.

I'm basically the reverse of you - I love POE2, and the direction it's going in, but I'm also definitely going to be jumping back into some POE1 leagues for a long time to come yet. I don't have any worries that POE1 work/league releases will pick up again - GGG have earned a lot of goodwill over the years from my point of view, and for now I trust them on that.

+ 1000, seriously.

I've played PoE since 2013 and thats the only game I play (might try some other game for a few hours but PoE is "my game").

I'm having similar concerns - feels like everyone but the diehard PoE 1 crowd is boarding the new boat, while telling us "oh but don't worry, the old boat is fine! its in great condition it won't sink on ya!" and I'm not sure I buy it...

P.S.: Love PoE2, beautifully made and a great game in it's own right - but for others, not for me.

I dunno about people but i will definitly play poe 1. I miss my cyclon3 boy
Inevitably I think PoE 2 will become PoE 1 but with slower movement speed. The builds everyone likes in PoE 2 function like PoE 1 builds. Nobody likes the peak warrior gameplay of 0.5 attacks per second in PoE 2, unless the entire screen is obliterated in the process.

GGG will have to do something about the awful tilesets. Not even the biggest hype streamers are ok with the state of maps. Lots of stuff is going to change to make it more like PoE 1 over time.

PoE 1 itself won't have any more big leagues like Elderslayers/EaterExarch/Maven and won't have the big hype anymore so people will naturally gravitate away towards PoE 2. To keep PoE 2 numbers high they will have to give the players what they want.
