Uncut Gem Access

Currently, it can be difficult and RNG-based getting uncut gems for characters, especially at the lower levels. I feel like this is one of the most crucial times for being able to experiment, especially for newer players (or dumb ones like me) who might make mistakes and then have little recourse for recovery other than farming and praying for drops.

There are probably a number of ways to address this, but the ones below might be worth considering?

Merchants Sell Uncut Gems For Gold
  • Could unlock levels as you progress through campaign
  • Skill, support, and spirit gems could each have their own timings for unlocking and costs to account for rarity of each type?
  • Could only unlock lower-level gems so drops are still satisfying and meaningful in maps, while still allowing some recovery from mistakes and experimentation

Uncut Gems Allow Lower Level Selection
  • This does not have to be separate from above, and would also be useful if stat requirements are a chokepoint
  • Would allow people to feed their lower-level characters with the (seemingly more plentiful) high-tier uncut gems

Uncut Gems Can Be Sold on Currency Exchange
  • Once more, this is not mutually exclusive with the suggestions above and would be a nice addition

What are other people's thoughts and GGG's on these? Are there issues with these ideas I'm overlooking, or reasons that these go against the vision for the game?

I do hope at least some of them (or something analogous) are added, as I feel like giving more flexibility and the option to recover from mistakes, especially early on, would be a huge boon to players. The reduced respec costs have been huge for this as well, so cheers for that!
