Build defenses, don't get oneshot.
Stubborn glass cannon. |

" Thats the problem, you cant do that in PoE2. You cannot build proper defenses in this game. Oneshots remain common even with good gear. |

" You seem unexperienced but i saw that you´re from 2012 like myself (on the forum) PoE 2 is balanced through dodge roll mechanics, you cannot build defensive in the early game a.k.a in the campaign that is. Even if you have 75% all ress and waste your points on the tree for defensive structure you´ll still be wiped in a second or two to some bosses because you are supposted to dodge the mechanics, that´s what GGG apparently wants. PoE 1 you can build a character very defensively in the campaign and still do all content in the campaign (a1-a9), it will be slower, granted but totally doable. I personally find SSFHC Ruthless on Path Of Exile a lot easier than Path Of Exile 2. |

I have 70-85%+ phys reduction, 4500 HP, 75% block, 600 regen (1100 on conc ground), 78/76/76/74 res. That is on my AoE clear spec. To blow up rares and bosses I dual wield with 4100 HP.
If you are dying, it's because you are not adapting. You defaulted back to the PoE1 approach of "The best defense is a good offense", which does not work anymore. You know it doesn't work because you die all the time. Yet every time you die you don't learn "Maybe I should spec out of damage and into defenses", you conclude "I need to kill them faster". This doesn't work. I started building defenses since early act 1, where Draven and the graveyard hulk clapped my cheeks. By the end I could already brawl with the count. Afterwards I had no issues with any bosses. I invested in regen because it is an OP stat in PoE2 while everyone else sneered at it and said it was useless. It allowed me to not rely on my health flask in boss fights, shrug off all chip damage and regen back even chunky hits. I also relied less and less on my dodge roll because I could simply tank a lot of attacks. I was told things would be different in red maps. That I'd be one shot all the time. That my defenses would become useless. They are not. I am basically playing two builds at once thanks to weapon swaps and can deal massive single target damage or tank through most scenarios while AoE clearing. Most of the deaths I do have came from intentional limit testing or knowingly playing cocky. I knew it was because of me, not the game. Every time I noticed some aspect of my character lacking, be it damage, clear or tankiness, I could sit down and realize that the game provided me with the tools to fix it. I know where a lot of these complaints people have are coming from. Because I encountered these issues myself. The difference is that I listened to what the game was trying to tell me. A death is the game telling you to reflect and improve your defenses or gameplay. It's up to you to take the hint. |

Most boss hits (in the campaign) except for the biggest slams can be tanked just fine. You don't need to top your resistances or to have more than 30-40% armor. It is notable that the more dangerous bosses actually do a combination of hits which kills you. That pyramid boss for example can absolutely destroy you if you eat his barrage, but this is not a one-shot, so it is perfectly avoidable.

Most bosses in this game can be beaten with poor defenses, if you learn their mechanics and how to dodge them (often literally).
