Resistances don't matter?

So, honestly... do they matter anymore? I've made it to tier 14/15 maps and I feel like it's a little crazy as far as how much damage elements do. Now, I've got max resistances, elemental and chaos. If I die from one strike of a lightning bolt from a cast storm monster or strongbox, what's the point of having resistances?

2k health with 1.2k ES, 78% evasion, 70% physical damage reduction. Map mod was pack size increase monsters take 36% less critical damage and more waystones and rarity of items. 205% waystone drop chance. Tier 15 Map with boss and irridation.

Something is weird with the scaling because even maxed res and gear a t1 map can still eat you alive.

Im running around with 2,4k almost 2,5k healt and can barely take one of those hits. 77% light ress. I think they need to tune down that dmg a little bit maybe 10-15% but and I think it would be fine. Now what maybe happened there. That's true maybe there was something from a random mob? I didn't see a curse on any mobs from the strongbox. But I did clear everything around the strongbox before hand. Had full ES and clicked. 1 second and I was dead. No rare mob popped out.
It's a lot of damage, from all elements, at about 6+ tier maps. Burning ground actually burns you extremely quick even with max fire res, blood pools same way, even though I have no idea what that damage is. Just hope it's going to be looked at some. DoT and elemental damage feels way turned up. I don't want to have to stack life :/, that was the point of investing into more ES. |

" Reason why Dot dmg feels so punishing imo is the lack of regen in three. In poe 1 you almost always had some regen from your three but in poe 2 we dont really get any if we dont play warrior. |
