PoE2 Account Wide Progression

Is the Atlas progression account wide for PoE2? I wanted to start Atlas from scratch on my new character, including story related objectives. I played with my friend who progressed without me, so his objectives became mine too, but I really have zero clue what happened.

If it's account wide, is there any way to reset it without wiping everything?
