"Invalid query; Your account must be in-game to use this feature"

I play on Ps5 and I get this error message when I try to whisper someone to trade. Someone said you need to link the Sony account to the Path of Exile site. I did that and still get the error message.

Silly me. I assumed PoE2 would have an in-game trade feature just like PoE but with improvements. Instead, they have added unnecessary steps to trading. Now I have to leave the game and make an account on a website. I know I'm not the only one who's tired of making new passwords! And now we have to wait for an invite and then go into another person's game so we can click on their character to make the trade.

I see that people are also missing the trade offers when they're busy playing the game. I guess ggg expects us to quit playing and go back to town every time an offer comes in???

All they had to do was bring back the same in-game trade system but improve it so all the relevant items appear on page 1 instead of being spread out across hundreds of pages.

Are you saying direct message? I still haven't been able to on Xbox as the moment you go to the site it logs you out of the game. You also can't paste messages while online so I can't even just copy / paste the message.

If i log in with the same account my psn id connected to i get this same error, whether i try ot through the playstation ormy phone while my playstation is open.

What am i doing wrong?
