Linking steam account "Premission Denied"

Always played PoE1 through the pc client. Friend and I bought Poe2 through steam last night and I tried to link my steam to poe account. Went through the hoops to log into steam then email sent, received the email but when I click the merge link the poe website just says "Permission Denied You don't have permission to access this area."
What's going on? My account is in good standing and just finished playing through poe a few days ago. Last bumped on Dec 26, 2024, 8:53:04 PM

Managed to get it to work after a few days of other methods.
