META Gems bugged/cannot Build Energy

With any meta slotted and turned on I never get energy to build or even an icon for energy to build. I’m at a complete loss with this being an issue for days. I’ve already checked the easy stuff to see if it’s me or passives or whatever. Doesn’t seem to be the case. Please help

Have you put a spell skill in the meta gem? If not it is possible the meta gem won't gain energy when there are no spell skills to cast.
