Mercenary will not shoot

Yesterday i played for like 8 hours with no problem. Then suddenly i could not fire a single bolt. Uninstalled and reinstalled and even tried a controller. Set different shots to different buttons and he simply will not fire. The grenades all work but he won't fire a bolt. I was so close to level 40 but now it's unplayable. Please help me out
