Experience Loss Is Terrible

I have started running my maps and am up to tier 3 map. I find it horrible that we not only lose the item needed to run them but we also lose xp towards our next level. It is bad enough that we have to grind to find the waystones we need or have to spend our gold to get them. Why should we also lose experience towards our level up?
