Blood Mage - Gore Spike - works?

I took the node "Gore Spike (1% increased Critical Damage Bonus per 40 Life)" in the ascension tree
Why is the effect of this node not displayed in the skill window.

Before I took it, the critical multiplier was 172. After I took it, it remained the same.

At the moment, I have 985 life - it turns out the multiplier should give a 24 multiplier. But why does the value in the skill description not change? Is this some kind of bug or does the skill not work?

pretty sure it does work, though may not work correctly who knows we have no visual indicator of it working. i have noticed a damage increase while using the node (i have 3.1k max life).
