Tried linking my steam account and lost my ALL my characters

Played many characters across POE1 and now 2, always played on Xbox.
I linked my account with my steam account, hoping to play some POE on my deck, I cannot. Furthermore, all my characters are now not visible for either POE1 or 2 on xbox, and I have to create a new character to play. I am logged into the correct profile on Xbox. To clarify, in order to play the Path of Exile 2 early access for PC, including Steam deck, you would need a PC early access key. You can redeem one given to you by someone who has obtained an extra key or purchase one of the PC Early Access Packs yourself to gain access.
If you aren't seeing your Path of Exile 1 characters, it's likely you've selected the wrong sub-account on the character select screen. Please also note that Path of Exile 1 is not cross-play so your characters would only be available on the platform you created them on originally. I hope this helps! | |

Thanks for the response.
I have not got as far as even trying to play on Steam Deck, just noticed i had to repurchase the early access, which you have explained. It is on Xbox that all my characters are missing (1+2), the POE2 ones were there only this morning, when I ran a few maps after breakfast. |

If you aren't seeing your characters, you may want to try creating a new character so that you can view the character select screen. From there, you should be able to swap between your sub-accounts to locate your characters. I hope this helps!

JC yes this worked.
I created a character on both 1+2, then had the option to switch sub accounts appear I followed the guidance here https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3586288 Thank you |
