Unable to open maps while playing in couch coop

Husband and I have characters we have played through the campaign entirely in couch coop on our Xbox x and finally got the maps that night. They are under his poe2 account. He is always primary (left player) and I am always secondary (right player).

Well when we tried to open the first map, he got an error stating he was not the party leader. Odd, we both thought. We checked and I was party leader. We couldn't figure out how to switch him to be party leader. We figured maybe I confirmed my login first, so we exited out of poe2 and made sure he confirmed his character selection first. Didn't help, I was still party leader. I couldn't interact with his atlas at all

We ended up logging out, having just him log in, open the map, log out, then both of us log in and enter and run the map. Rinse and repeat for every. Single. Map. I died in one of the maps and of course almost immediately we got a black screen and the game froze which appear to be not uncommon.

Looking for suggestions on how to chnage party leader in couch coop mode or a better solution for opening maps than our current login logout method.
Also like every other console player... Can we please get some Loot filters? Please?

Playing on XSX, exactly same issue - P2 stated as party leader without possibility to change that. Our solution was to change places - P2 logged as P1 and P1 logged as P2. This end up P1 character as party leader and he was able open maps without relog

Are you guys able to invite one another to a party? If so, just press start and hover over his character and it will give promote to party leader option.
