Concerns About Regional Pricing Disparity

Hi GGG,

I’d like to raise a concern regarding the regional pricing system in Path of Exile. As an Indonesian player, I’ve noticed that despite Indonesia having a significantly lower cost of living compared to Brazil, we are still required to follow USD pricing, while Brazil benefits from regional pricing on your platform.

Here are some data points for context:

Cost of Living:
1. According to Numbeo's Cost of Living Index, the cost of living in Indonesia is approximately 4.6% lower than in Brazil.
2. For example, the average cost of living in Brazil is $705, while in Indonesia it's $608.

GDP Per Capita:
Indonesia: $5,250
Brazil: $10,268

Purchasing Power:
The local purchasing power in Indonesia is approximately 19.8% lower than in Brazil.

Currently, the lack of regional pricing in Indonesia creates a significant barrier for players to support the game. With USD-based pricing, many Indonesians simply cannot afford to purchase supporter packs or cosmetics, which limits their ability to contribute financially to the game they love.

As a dedicated player, I’ve personally purchased two supporter packs as a way to show my support for the game. However, I must emphasize that the amount I’ve spent is a very significant sum for me, given the economic conditions in Indonesia. I’m happy to support Path of Exile, but the current USD-based pricing makes it incredibly challenging for me and many others in my region to continue doing so.

By implementing regional pricing in Indonesia, GGG would:

1. Make in-game purchases more accessible to Indonesian players (And other players with similar situation).
2. Increase player engagement and loyalty, as more players could afford to support the game.
3. Boost overall revenue from a growing and passionate player base in Indonesia.

It’s important to note that the current high prices discourage players from purchasing anything at all. On the other hand, affordable regional pricing would open the door for many players to finally contribute to the game, leading to a win-win situation for both the community and GGG.

If you’re reading this post and aware of its existence, I kindly ask you to leave a reply. I just need to know whether this feedback is being acknowledged.

Thank you for taking the time to consider this feedback. I genuinely hope you’ll review the current pricing policy and take steps to make it fairer for players in Indonesia.

In Greece the minimum wage is like 800$. But yeah, I guess being in the European union automatically makes us able to afford 50$ armor.

What makes this situation even more puzzling is that GGG already has the infrastructure to implement regional pricing globally. From what I’ve observed, changing the language on the Path of Exile website while making a purchase automatically applies regional pricing. This means that enabling regional pricing doesn’t require a complete overhaul—GGG would just need to periodically add support for additional languages on their website.

Moreover, the payment system used by GGG, Xsolla, already supports regional restrictions. This means that integrating regional pricing for more countries, like Indonesia or even Greece, is entirely feasible without significant technical challenges.

I hope GGG takes these points into consideration, as it could benefit players worldwide while also boosting their revenue in regions where many players are currently unable to make purchases.
