Persistent ground AOE

So I was running my monk thru trial of chaos to get my 2nd set of ascendency points. Several points I simply could not win due to so much AOE just remaining on the ground. Trials seem extremely hostile to melee players, as my ranger just blows thru everything with extreme ease due to her not needing to actually get close to an enemy, letting me kite dangerous ground abilities. So may I suggest that AOE effects cannot remain on the ground or at least cut down the time they can remain on the ground by a rather significant amount. It took me about 10-15 mins of kiting the trial boss around just so I can actually fight it without my health getting nuked. I love hard boss fights, I enjoy the challenge but when you have a mechanic that's so hostile to one type of play but another simply skates by it with no issues? It's no longer a tough fight but now a poorly designed one.
