Item Rarity on gear

Hi, I'd like to make couple of points here why I think having Item Rarity on gear is not a good idea.

I understand it would be nice to have other type of builds that are not focused solely on dealing damage. Treasure hunter or bounty hunter archetypes come to my mind.
The problem is that finding rare items is one of the primary goals of the game for EVERYONE. If I take it into extreme, "Item Rarity" mod could be renamed to "Win Rate" and it would still be accurate.

As of right now, Item rarity could be freely rolled on almost every part. So there is no trading of damage for higher item rarity. In fact, top performing builds have no problem to squeeze in Item Rarity while more demanding builds struggles to cap resistance or so in order to do so. That indirectly leads to reduction in build variety.

Main problem with Item Rarity is that if it's impactful enough to be noticeable, it becomes mandatory. If it's not impactful, it's pointless. There is nothing in between.

Currently, Item Rarity has noticeable impact on rarity of currency as well as other items. Keep in mind that rare items can be traded for Regal Shards. This makes it rather mandatory.

To give you an example, I was leveling my solo self-found character with heavy investment into evasion and 2 decent helmets dropped. One helmed was evasion based with life and 2 resistances. Second helmet was armor based with 1 resistance and decent Item Rarity roll. Which helmet do you think I used? Which helmet would you use? I just couldn't help myself but to use the one with the Item Rarity because it improves chances of future upgrades for all the gear slots and honestly I hate that.

Striving for better gear will never stop as it's one of the incentives for playing the game and for that reason Item Rarity is something you'll always need. If you choose to prioritize offensive/defensive stats over Item Rarity, you are in disadvantage not only when it comes to in game drops but also trading with other people.

Impact on game economy is quite noticeable as well as it contributes to deepening gap for affordable prices.

So basically we've got only 5 affixes to play around with most of the time.

Last point I want to make is related to drop rates. I believe drop rates are still far from being generous. Unfortunately Item Rarity has to be part of the balancing process leading to less consistent results.

Only benefit of having Item Rarity mod on gear is to have advantage against other players which I personally don't see as a positive thing. Is there anything I'm missing?
