What would make maps/waystones better?
i know in the interview was the idea of adding checkpoints, and i like the idea BUT,
imo one of the biggest issues maps have atm is the discovery radius of the player and so the mechanics/elites (minimap icons) not get found. and the even bigger issue is that elite icons stay hidden until you reach the mobcount. i can only speak for myself here, in ~90% of the maps i have to backtrack because i did not found all the elites, and most of the time they are not even a full screen away from where i was already. this is the most annoying thing imo. same goes for the mechanics itself, the icons appear the moment you already can see the mechanic on screen, that way you miss them way to often. so what would make it better? # increase the playerradius for discover mechanics AND make them permanent, even if i am on the other edge of the map i want to know where all the rituals/breaches/... was. # and also, show elite icons if they are within this range even if mobcount is not reached yet. Add new modifiers to the waystones. Some examples:
%Reduced area size Rare mobs are replaced with unique bosses. Magic mobs are replaced with rare mobs. Area only contains a boss room. Boss(es) is(are) # times more difficult. Area layout is vertical. Area layout is straight. Area has waves of mobs. Area has a time limit. #% reduced mob damage/life. You have honor. No ranged mobs. Area becomes more difficult per monster killed. %Increased rarity/quanity. Just some off the top of my head. |
