Trade has an issue
There is a core issue with trade that creates multiple scenarios that are negative player experiences.
The core issue is that items are listed for sale but then purchasing of those listed items is not automatically handled. ====== (1) The first scenario this causes is where gameplay is interrupted. For the seller, they are forced to not be in the middle of a trial or other content that they cannot just port out of the middle of in order to make the trade. For the buyer, it's less of an issue as they have at least stopped to find the item for sale, but then they are forced to spend additional time waiting on the seller before they can get back to playing the game. This is further exacerbated if the buyer and/or seller are playing with other players as parties may now also have to be managed in order to facilitate the trade. ===== (2) This leads to the second scenario which is "false sellers" manipulating this with sell orders intended only to manipulate the market. They list items at prices they would never sell for in order to try to fish for folks that will match or undercut those prices. They then keep watch and try to catch those that do match or undercut. (2a) This provides a risk-free way for "false sellers" to try to manipulate the market in order to grab some additional items on the cheap to then flip on the market. (2b) While 2a may be a non-issue to some, it causes a further problem as players who are actually trying to buy the item are whispering tons of the lowest prices they see for an item but are receiving no responses. This can lead players to thinking that the market is garbage and thus provide a bad impression of the game. ===== What is the proposed solution? Have the purchasing of items for sale be automatic such as with an actual auction house. If a buyer clicks to buy, they can drag the currency to the payment box and complete the payment. (1) It gets rid of the additional interruptions caused by forcing players to party up, join same instance, and click trade. (2) It at least lessens the instances of players listing items at prices they aren't actually willing to sell them at. (2a) This provides less market manipulation by players (2b) This removes the instance where players see items listed but are unable to buy them; no longer wasting time whispering multiple sellers who just ignore them. (2c) It has the potential to reduce the number of listing that GGG has to store as potentially less of these "fake" listings will be made by players.
