Now hear me out: LIGHT RADIUS is the missing link to a surprising amount of issues.
In the grim and dark world of mapping and early access endgame, when players needed it most, Light Radius was nowhere to be found.
Light radius is both a problem child and the potential savior to some core problems that PoE2 faces right now in early access and a Light Radius rework could potentially solve or assist with multiple issues and make a real impact on the quality of the game. Currently Light Radius just scales visibility in a few dark areas and map discovery radius for doors and other map markers. This is as lame as a stat can get while somehow still being problematic. Increases to light are surprisingly tiny and universally considered dead mods, while simultaneously the default radius is small enough to make navigating unknown areas feel tedious. All of the above effects of Light Radius shouldn't even be something variable to begin with. The default Light Radius effects currently in play should just be set at a higher static value than they currently are. But if all of the effects of Light Radius are no longer modifiable then how is it supposed to also help fix other problems with the game? Well I'm so glad you asked, you that is actually me writing out this projected hypothetical question! Light radius modifiers everywhere should be changed to have a completely different effect and perhaps a new name along with mod values and weights. The new effect of Light Radius should instead display magic and rare monsters and chests on your player map/mini-map. This would be good for the game in multiple ways: -Light Radius could have a way cooler name to match the new thematic. (Yes I'm serious! Why can't this make the list?) -It would become much harder to miss a single rare enemy when clearing maps, even without any investment. -It would allow a natural way for players to better clear areas without "combing a desert". -Treasure chest hunting would actually have a modicum of viable support for once. -Since it wouldn't be a content radar anymore, the mod values could be buffed to be more relevant increases, rather than a wimpy +15% radius at maximum tier. -This would add a more "magic find" themed way for loot goblins to find more loot and invest into achieving maximum goblin mode, all without contributing to breaking enemy drops to even a fraction of the degree that previous loot stats have done in PoE history. -Since the radius is based around the player it would be a small help to melee characters that have innately worse clear speeds than ranged characters by default. -A hunter must hunt. one of the templar subclasses will probably have an ascendancy related to light radius
and we'll most likely get a unique that's related to light radius, like wreath of phrecia from poe 1 "buff grenades"
- Buff Grenades (Buff-Grenades) |

" All very possible. Those things could still scale on a new and sexier version of Light Radius too! |
