Armor suggestion and how to possibly fix (PoE 2)

1. Armor

-As it stands right now the formula on how armor works is the harder the hit the less it works. I understand the idea behind it but it still feels bad as a whole. That being said I could possibly see a simpler way to implement the defenses.

-I would say make it similar to the resistances in the fact that there is a cap on the damage reduction. Normal mobs base the damage off of that resistance, magic mobs ignore 10% of that resistance, rare mobs ignore 20% of the resistance and unique/boss mobs ignore 40% and the one shot mechanics ignore and even higher percentage or just hits harder to make it a one shot mechanic.


I feel like this would simplify things both on player side as well as dev side by making it more understandable for the player and making it easier to program for the enemies.


It would look something like this:
Damage x (%reduction-%ignored) = final damage

No I'm not a math mathematician but I'm sure that is much simpler than what they are doing as of right now for PoE2. Any suggestions or thoughts on the matter?

even if they 3x all armor it would still be bad , there is no numerical value you can put on it that would make it good.

did you watch kripp's videos , the latest one explains ,
even if you use the chest that armor protects from elemental dmg .

30k armor will give you less protection then +1% max elemental resistance alone
would .

they need to re-invent armor from the ground up , its completely useless .
The entire post that I just made was suggesting how to fix it by making the formula simpler and essentially "rebuilding" it and then adjusting the damage of the enemies to that system to fix it. You missed the point of this post. Yes I did watch those videos and you didn't understand the point of this post.

As for exact formula value tweaks though, I didn't go into depth about that since the numbers can just be changed and tested constantly until a satisfying outcome is achieved.
