Atlas progression reset after interacting with burning monolith for the first time.

So I have been doing endgame maps for weeks now and only today decided to try and interact with a burning citadel that was just a few nodes away from my initial start point on the atlas.
Now that I have gone to the burning citadel, i got all of these extra quests referencing new citadels. (Iron and Copper citadels)
So far, I had only seen the Stone Citadel offered.

After interacting with the burning citadel and receiving quests to visit the Iron and Copper ones, I have lost all my atlas progression and it seems to have reset to how it would look as if I was just starting again.
Very confused.... is this a bug or intended because I waited so long to visit a citadel?

I got the same issue.

First time i killed the The Arbiter of Ash , my atlas map was reseted.

To resolve it: exit the game and log back in. Your progress should reappear
