The Viper Boss fight is stupid and needs to be redone
So, normally I'm one to give constructive criticism along with possible solutions to be given to a certain problem. But this boss fight just has ZERO redeeming qualities. Unless you're a facemelting meta build, this fight is impossible, especially on cruel.
First and foremost, this boss deals a gargantuan amount of chaos damage. Chaos damage is a very rare roll on gear and is very sparsely present in the skill tree. You'd also need to deliberately spec into chaos resistance in order to get it to a decent level. This would not be a problem if the boss just did a couple of quick jabs her and there, but that is absolutely not the case at all. In fact, it's another one of its glaring issues. The phalanxes deal enormous amounts of damage with a very tiny window for anticipation. They make you go through your flasks as if you were an alcoholic. Another problem with the phalanxes is that you can roll behind them once they march forward, resulting you into getting stuck with no way out other than dying. This has happened to me on multiple occasions. Another problem with both the phalanxes AND the boss is that, when the fight gets drawn out long enough, the arena becomes TINY. This is especially egregious considering that the boss does a bombardment with massive chaos damage WHICH CAN STACK over a large surface. Ultimately, the entire are gets covered in them resulting in a 100% death rate. To add insult to injury, the boss performs attacks in addition to this bombardment. It's complete overkill. I'm confident to say that this is by far the worst designed boss I've ever come across in any game. There are no points for improvement either. The only solution is to either completely scrap it, or redesign it from the top. Last bumped on Jan 19, 2025, 10:50:14 AM

I killed this boss with Molten Blast Titan and Minion Infernalist - both builds far from facemelting meta. Problem is in your build or in your skill. All attacks can be avoided with perfectly timet dodge roll. Actually never died once to this one. And no I'm not super elite pro gamer.

For me it was the hardest boss to learn because of the sheer amount of different one-shot mechanics present in that fight. However once you get and learn the "rhythm", it stays with you and it becomes easy. I did it with an Arc build, which is faaar from meta and faaar from what spark can do. You can dodge the large chaos bombardment even after two arena shrinks, which happened during my first kill. They grow really big, however they take a long time to procc, so there's still much time to find a safe ground (I found out that the corners are often safe).
That being said the campaign is a bit on the overtuned side as far as numbers go. If you're unlucky with gear or gems, then you need to make up for it with flawless execution. Personally I don't hate it being this way (however I was once a hardmode WoW raider in WotLK, so it brings back those nostalgic memories of wiping to a boss for weeks or months).
