Equipped items deleting if equip new item when inventory full

This has occurred for me twice now on xbox with scepters. If i accidentally click equip on a sceptre while identifying, etc. in my inventory while inventory is full, my equipped scepter and all associated support gems get deleted. Have lost two great sceptres :( please fix and either not let item be equipped until space is made or have the items swap positions.

yes this happened to me twice as well with corpsewade boots just vanished including support gems. Now I keep some space while swapping. I hope yours weren't too expensive for me boots were 1ex so not much damage done.
