0.1.1 - End Game Boss Mechanics
While I understand that the endgame is still being developed, I believe it's worth addressing some concerns as we refine it.
It’s reasonable to want to evolve the mechanics of endgame bosses, particularly the Arbiter, to showcase the effort put into their design. However, shifting the dynamic so that the player is unable to one-shot the boss, while the boss can still one-shot the player, seems counterproductive. This change ultimately prevents most players from engaging with the mechanics, as they’ll never get to see them in action. Before the recent patch, I was able to defeat all content, including Arbiter +3, with relative success. Now, with the .5-second cooldown on Arbiter's one-shot abilities and my builds only quick movement option is to dodge-roll, makes it nearly impossible to survive. I have 450 hours in the game, and while re-rolling or using another character isn’t an issue, it’s disheartening to feel compelled to play only one or two specific builds to clear this content. I strongly believe that a rework is necessary—something that benefits both players and developers, and ensures that endgame content is accessible and rewarding for a wider range of builds. Agreed. Most endgame boss one-shot mechanics need to go. It's lazy design. The ones that remain in should be very well telegraphed.
One-shotting(both sides) is just a way of not having to balance player vs monster power. |

" I agree. If we look at other games. Especially some Raid Boss Mechanics. From lets say Final Fantasy 14 or Neverwinter. With Bosses that have actually good Design. You see that high damage skills have either a special mechanic to it so you can prevent the skill from happening or they are extremely well telegraphed so you only die to them when you make a mistake. The best Design ive seen so far in POE 2 are Asinia and Draven. They do have some really high damage skills, but they have very good design to it. You only die to them when you make a very crucial mistake. You see beforehand with a fairly long delay where the skills hit. Arbiter has a good indicator for the fire circle, but then he fires a beam at the circle. That an absoltely shit design decision. Cause that beam can one hit you, but it has basically zero indication of it happening. Thats horrible. The Boss design in POE 2 in general is mostly just bad in my opinion. I come from an MMORPG perspective tho. The boss design there is very dfferent in general from an ARPG, i do have a comparison to Lost Ark. Which is kind of an ARPG and the boss design there is several magnitudes better than POE 2. General Gameplay not, but the bosses. Last edited by Gang5ter15#1071 on Jan 24, 2025, 4:56:35 PM

One-shot mechanics in endgame content, especially after investing so much time to get there, are the ultimate kick in the n*ts. IMO, some of these endgame mechanics really undermine the potential greatness of what PoE2 could become.
