Pinnacle King of the Mist Soft lock

I was fighting Pinnacle King of the Mist and killed him next to some stairs in Phase 1. After exiting the maze and entering Phase 2, the boss just froze and didn't transition into his second form until I rolled near him. After that, he did changed forms, but he was just stood near the stairs and attacked, while I coudln't do anything to him, basically a soft lock.
