THE TRIAL OF CHAOS IS NOT FUN, REWARDING, OR ENTERTAINING.
Hey guys, just to preface; I really enjoy POE2 and think it's a great game. Most of the design decisions have been spot on and it really improves on POE1 in a lot of ways.
However, I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE TRIAL OF CHAOS WITH A BURNING PASSION. MAKING THIS ROGUE-LIKE GARBAGE MANDATORY TO PROGRESS YOUR ASCENDANCY FEELS HORRIBLE. Look, I tried and failed while running Labyrinth at least 50 times in POE1, but AT LEAST LABYRINTH FELT REWARDING where there were stages, you had to learn the layout to progress, and you got some decent rewards at the end. I frankly find it insulting that you took the literal worst mechanic from POE1 and cooked it into the base game as a mandatory way of progressing your ascendancy this early in campaign. Out of every single good design decision that was made for POE2 (I enjoy the game very much), the trial of chaos is simply not fun or rewarding. At least Sekhemas feels rewarding because you have some control over how it progresses. But I literally just spent the past two hours re-playing the same 3 trials over and over again faced with choosing between 3 bs mechanics every single time. Seriously guys, does anyone actually enjoy running Trial of Chaos? I haven't seen a single person saying they get even a remote amount of enjoyment out of running them in their current state. It just BLOWS. Maybe it's implemented too early, let players take this on to get their third or forth ascendancy point, but where it is right now in terms of character progression, where you HAVE to play it to get your second set of ascendancy points, it simply does not feel good and is not fun. I get that the challenge is the whole point, but going from Sekhemas to Trial of Chaos just feels terrible. Let us run it later once we've built up some power to get our third or fourth ascendency points. Sekhemas is fun because it gives you variety and options, but the Trial of Chaos is soul-crushing garbage in its current state. It's simply the worst part of the game currently. There has to be a more rewarding and entertaining system available to get your second set of ascendency points. Trial of Chaos definitely ain't it and the trialmaster can literally kiss my a$$. Right now this is literally the worst part of progressing your character based on the current content in the game. SUCKS BIG TIME WHEN YOU GET DISCONNECTED AT THE LAST BOSS ENTRANCE AND HAVE TO START FROM THE BEGINNING! YOU ALSO NEED TO FIX SINGAPORE SERVER.

It's actually pretty good if you know what you are doing.
I suppose RNG matters with choices, but I think of the two choices the Chaos trial is the better one. Also the soul cores and fate fragments you can win as loot as pretty valuable. I mean all you gotta do is beat a few monsters and a few bosses. you choose the debuffs. You can get all your points in the trials of the sehkemas. or get them all in the Chaos temple. or do a mixture. |

The title is incorrect, at least in the middle... The Trials is very rewarding once you can consistently clear it
GGG must be making a market on the currency exchange because even worthless soul cores are swapping for ~8 ex. Selling the fragment gets another ~15-20 (50-60 for deadly fate) so for about the length of an average map you can easily clear 30-40ex minimum by selling to Alva Got the chipotle soul core? 40 at the time of this report... The mana one? 85... Is it fun? Nah, but rewarding yes- kinda stupidly so. And that stupidity makes it a bit entertaining- who needs rarity when you can just sell guaranteed soul cores and fragments? Casuals are faster at detecting that there are absolutely no rewards in any aspecets of the game.
The only thing driving chars is a few rare items that somehow got decent stats from an orb, which usualy are useless. - Orbs are completely useless because of the heavy RNG. You throw items because of them more than keep those items. - Legendary Items have too many negative stats making them wortlhess. - You can turn gems into any gems you want which makes gem drops completely useless. - Higher level gem drops are abyssimal and become worthless until the next batch. In fact, the End Game being difficult doesn't really matter since the rewards are worthless anyway. It wouldnt matter if they drop all the legendary items and gems on your char. You wouldn't even use those. The game's mechanic is so bad in so many levels that leveling is the only thing left to do for players. Why do you think they keep XP loss on char death? Remove it and you will realize that the whole game is complete garbage. |

Didn't read the wall of text. Idc about some random dude's rant.
It's not fun/entertaining for sure, but then again, nothing in PoE2 is. The game was intentionally designed to be unfun because that's "The Vision". However, it is rewarding. There's no denying that. Soul Cores, Fragments and Trialmaster are all good ways to make money if you can stomach having to go through the trial a lot.
